Field High School Senior Becky Stayer. Becky is currently involved in numerous in-school activities. Including cross country, track, the drama club and teen institute. Cross country and track for three years, Drama club for two and Teen institute for four. As if Becky isn’t busy enough she has also participated in the National Honors Society for two years and Fellowship of Christian Athletes for a total of four years. Outside of school Becky has been a part of 4-H for ten years. According to the website, OSU extension, 4-H is a program that focuses on active involvement and quality experiences which stimulate lifelong learning of values and skills. 4-H members learn valuable lessons in leadership, communication and collaboration while increasing their knowledge in math, science, technology and a variety of other topics. Kids can participate in 4-H through community clubs, camps, in-school and after-school activities and summer programs. They increase their self confidence and personal life skills while learning about specific subjects- anything from animals or computers to public speaking, cooking, art, gardening and environmental sciences, just to name a few topics. Becky also devotes time to the Fire and EMS exploring program at Suffield fire station and has for two years. The Fire and EMS exploring program at Suffield Fire station consists of hands on learning that teaches participants many career experiences, leadership opportunities, and community service activities. Becky’s favorite activity that she participates in is the Fire and EMS exploring program at Suffield Fire Station. When asked why she responded,
“I really enjoy the Exploring program at the Fire station because I get to work with amazing people there, and I have learned so much about the Fire service.”
In the little free time Becky has she participates in her churches youth group, and has for seven years. Being involved in so many in and out of school activities it’s easy to see that nothing can stop Becky. She has her mind set to learn and accomplish everything that life has to offer. When I asked Abby Mortimer her thoughts on Becky she replied,
“I think she is the nicest person I’ve ever met, She doesn’t judge looks or personality. She gets to know you and her friendship is one of the best I have ever had.”
It’s amazing that after all the time she puts into extracurricular activities, she still has time to be there and care about her friends. Becky Stayer is one of the most genuine and down to earth people, and it was a pleasure to interview her.
