On May 13th, 1961 Dennis Rodman was born. When he was three years old, his father left him and his family. Growing up Rodman was never a really good basketball player in school. After highschool Rodman went throw many jobs. One of his jobs was a janitor at the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport. While he was working one day he stole some watches and was arrested. He was released after telling the police where they were. Rodmans mom told him to either go to school and enlist in the armed forces or get a new job. He did nothing and because of that his mom kicked him out. Rodman proceeded to attend the Cook County Junior College in Dallas. After attending Cook County for a year, Rodman got a basketball scholarship to the college of Southeastern Oklahoma State University. As a senior he was drafted by the Detroit Pistons and played with them for seven years. He played as a small forward and weighed 210 pounds. Rodman afterwards played for the San Antonio Spurs, Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers, and the Dallas Mavericks. He has lead his teams to five championship titles. Rodman is known for his amazing rebounding skills. For four years straight he had the most rebounds in the NBA. Rebounding this was hard for him because a lot of the people he played against were a lot bigger then he was, but he loved hearing every one cheering. Rodman made it into the NBA Hall of Fame in 2011. Rodman never expected to become something big.
But with his rising fame in basketball his fame off the court was gaining more attention. He had colorful hair, many tattoos, and multiple piercings that brought him a lot of attention. Rodman showed up to a lot of his games with different colored hair. Along with holding interviews in gay bars and his romances with Madonna and Carmen Electra, he gained an image for having a very eccentric personality. ” I created something that everyone has been afraid of… the Dennis Rodman I was born to be,” Rodman stated. Rodman also got himself into a bit of trouble in 2008 he was arrested for hitting his wife, and in 2010 it came out that he owed 300,000 dollars in child support. Rodman has cleaned up his act and now makes appearances around the world and also sells action figures of himself. It’s no question that Dennis Rodman is unique and amazing in his own way.
