When announcing the winner of Best Picture for the 2017 academy awards there was a mix up on who exactly won the award. Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway read the wrong envelope while presenting the award. The presenters were given the envelope for Best Actress which was Emma Stone for the film La La Land, but not the whole cast in total for Best Picture.
Everyone was still in a state of confusion after the wrong card was read. Beatty later on stated that he thought there might have been a misprint on the card he was given. Jimmy Kimmel sorted things out with the nominees, but everyone still remained confused on what exactly happened. The crew cleared things up and the Moonlight cast received their award for Best picture. After all the embarrassment, everyone still handled it well. Actress Emma Stone proceeded to say “Excitement, but confusion. I think everyone is just so excited for Moonlight. It’s such an incredible film.” It’s safe to say that mistakes are made even at such a prestigious event like the Grammys. Congratulations to the cast of Moonlight and Emma Stone as well.
